Moving Picture World synopsis

The Price of Gold (1913) has the attractive Dorothy Phillips giving up her railwayman beau in favour of a wealthy gent old enough to be he grandfather. One he has tempted her, marriage becomes a childless bore with an old fart who ignores her in favour of his daily paper. Deciding to leave… A very nice copy, but perhaps incomplete as we don’t know what she intends to do after leaving the dreary fellow. The picture of what-may-have-been is perhaps idealised, and the girl doesn’t seem to have developed any interests to counter her daily routine. Pretty watchable, though.”
