A Hard Work and its Product

L’Industria dell’argilla in Sicilia

R: Piero Marelli  P: Tiziano Film, Torino. It ca. 1910

“In the 1910’s clay caves were working around Cefalù. The short documentary film shows us the different phases of the work process: from the hard clay mining and its transport to the handcrafted art of the potters and the artists who decorate and paint the produced objects.
The film restoration:
The preservation of L’industria dell’argilla in Sicilia was carried out by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino, from  a tinted and toned nitrate print acquired by the Museum in 1994 with a small collection of landscape documentaries. From the nitrate print, a dupe negative and a positive color print were printed on safety film, using the Desmet method.  The process was carried out in 1997 at the Haghefilm laboratory in Amsterdam.”
